 The City of Joliet Fire Department will soon be seeking qualified men and women to accept our challenge!
We are looking for individuals who can become a part of a Team dedicated to the improvement and well being of our community. We go where emergencies call us and we do whatever is necessary to protect and save lives, and bring the situation under control.
If you can stand with us and brave the disasters we confront, then you may be the person the Joliet Fire Department is looking for.

Requirements for Application
MUST BE A RESIDENT OF THE CITY OF JOLIET AND REMAIN SO THROUGHOUT THE APPLICATIONS, SCREENING, TESTING AND SELECTION PROCESS. JOLIET RESIDENCY IS ALSO A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT |
US CITIZEN |
AT LEAST 21 YEARS OF AGE |
UNDER THE AGE OF 35 TO BE APPOINTED |
HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE OR GED EQUIVALENT |
POSSESS A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE WITH GOOD DRIVING RECORD. |
MUST PASS WRITTEN, ORAL AND PHYSICAL AGILITY EXAMINATIONS |
MUST PASS BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, POLYGRAPH AND PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING. |
MUST PASS A MEDICAL AND VISUAL EXAMINATION |
CERTIFICATION AS AN EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN - PARAMEDIC REQUIRED
DURING PROBATIONARY PERIOD. |
Testing Process
Consist of:
- Completion of Application forms and supplementary documents
- Physical ability test (given on a Pass / Fail Basis)
- Written and Oral Examinations
- All Candidates will undergo:
- Extensive background investigation
- Polygraph and psychological exams
- Comprehensive medical & visual examinations
