Incidents
The Green Team was put on stand-by for a building collapse in Woodbridge in January but did not have to respond—First Responders were able to get the victim out safely.
- A second incident which took place in March happened to be right in Joliet . It was a car vs. building incident where the Green Team responded to insure the safety of all involved. The Green Team determined the structural soundness of the building before any other rescuers were allowed to enter and remove the car and it’s victims.
- A third incident where the Green Team was activated but then recalled was in May where a driver of a car went off of Rt. 53 in Lockport into a deep ravine. First Responders were able to rescue the victim.
- The fourth incident happened in September which involved the recovery of a victim from a grain bin in Mazon. There were actually 2 victims in this incident—one survived. This was a first for the Green Team as we have never been activated for a grain bin incident so we were able to learn much as to what is involved with this type of rescue.
Because of the commitment and dedication to excellence by all past and present members, the Specialized Rescue Team is, and will continue to be, one of the leaders in the CART organization, as well as throughout the state.
