The State requires a minimum of 20 hours per month of documented training per firefighter. It also requires minimum standards for multi-company training within a department. Again, in the year of 2008, the Joliet Fire Department has exceeded the minimum standard for training per firefighter and well over the required hours in multi-company training.

The Joliet Fire Department has monthly training with firefighters that have assignments that takes training over and above the required level.
